The community interest company Trans Euro Trail® encourages adventurous motorcyclists to travel light and discover the rich diversity of European landscapes and cultures. This epic route, spanning over 100,000 km of trails, crosses some of Europe’s most remote and breathtaking scenery.
Trans Euro Trail® is driven by a community of enthusiastic volunteers, known as Linesmen. Therefore, this project relies on this community to explore and manage the ever-evolving network of tracks that traverse nearly thirty countries.
The Trans Euro Trail® encourages adventurous bikers to travel light and discover the rich diversity of European landscapes and cultures. This epic route, covering over 100,000 km of trails, crosses some of Europe’s most remote and breathtaking scenery.
A community of enthusiastic volunteers, known as Linesmen powers the The Trans Euro Trail®. This project relies on this community to explore and manage the ever-evolving network of tracks that traverse nearly thirty countries.
The Trans Euro Trail® is divided into two distinct branches, one in the east and the other in the west. The eastern branch travels through Finland, the Baltic countries, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, and Bulgaria, then heads towards the Bosphorus in Turkey before continuing in Greece and going back up through the Balkans, Italy, and France to join the western branch. The western branch covers Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, the Benelux countries, the United Kingdom, and France. After their junction in southern France, the Trans Euro Trail® continues through Andorra, Spain, and Portugal, ultimately reaching Tarifa on the Strait of Gibraltar. In the near future, we plan to add Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia to the eastern route.
Practicing adventure motorcycling involves risks that we are all aware of, and motorcycle exploration adds further challenges. It takes you to isolated areas where terrains and surfaces can be unpredictable. Mobile network coverage may be uneven or nonexistent, which can limit your ability to call for help. In case assistance is needed, it may be difficult to locate you and could incur high costs. Unpaved tracks offer a wide variety of surfaces, ranging from gravel to broken tarmac, sand, stone, rock, and grass. Each surface presents its own challenges in terms of grip, stability, and unpredictability, which can significantly vary depending on the changing weather conditions, especially in mountainous areas.
The Trans Euro Trail® (TET) is an ideal solution for those who wish to experience an offroad adventure but are unsure about how to approach the issue of tracks. In addition to offering exciting routes, the Trans Euro Trail® (TET) places great emphasis on preserving natural spaces and promoting a code of good conduct.
This code, essential for ensuring the long-term access to trails and harmonious cohabitation with local populations, is based on several key principles: respect regulations, use clean, quiet, and compliant vehicles, stay on trails, show courtesy towards residents and other users, respect barriers, adapt speed, limit disturbances, do not travel in groups of more than 6 people, respect nature and those who live from it, maintain good relations with the communities crossed, and consider one’s physical and technical abilities.
